FAQ's

Q:  Do you offer tastings for your cakes?
A:  We offer complimentary tastings for our engaged couples in search of that perfect wedding cake for their special day.  For our clients wanting to order a specialty cake, we offer a variety of cupcakes in our store every day for purchase to get a feel for our style of cake.

Q: Can I book a tasting for this Saturday?
A: We will do our best to get you scheduled, but because most people are free Saturdays, it is one of the most popular days for tastings.  Please note we book about a week in advance for Saturday tastings, as there are only a few spots available each week.  Again, we will do our best to fit you in on your preferred day.

Q: Do I need to put a deposit down on my cake?
A: Yes, we do require a 50% deposit on all of our specialty cake orders, and the balance can be paid at the time of pick up.
Wedding cake orders require a 25% deposit and the balance is due in full 2 weeks prior to your event.

Q:  Do you freeze your cakes?

A: NO!

Q: Do you use cake mixes?
A: NO! We hand mix most of our recipes and bake everything from scratch and you can tell from the moment you take your first bite!

Q:  Can I get a cake for tomorrow?
A: We have a variety of cakes available to purchase in the store, so it just depends on what time you order the cake and how elaborate it is. We make all of our cakes to order, and we make them from scratch, with no freezer to store them in, so we need a little extra time to execute everything properly and perfectly.  We will make every effort to accommodate you, but we appreciate at least 4 days notice for something simple, and at least a week or more for anything more elaborate.

Q:  Do you deliver?
A:  We do deliver cakes.  Delivery price depends on the distance traveled in relation to the bakery.  We require a minimum of a $75 purchase in order to deliver.  We require the entire balance of the cake plus delivery charges to be paid in full, prior to the cake being delivered.

Q: Do you ship your cakes?
A: No, we don't.  They are just too delicate and fragile.  Sorry!

Q: Do you need any extra hands/interns, I'd love to learn how to decorate/bake ?
A: Unfortunately, we are not looking for any interns at this time.  Due to the busy and fast paced nature of our business, it's too difficult to train people.  Those with prior decorating and baking experience are encouraged to stop by with a resume and to fill out an application.

Q: How big will my cake be?

A: Some general guidelines for servings;
Our round cakes are 3 layers of cake, 2 layers of filling.
Sheet cakes 2 layers of cake, 1 layer of filling
8" round serves up to 15, 10" round serves 30, 12" round serves 45.
1/4 sheet serves 25, Full sheet serves 100

Q: Buttercream or Fondant?
A: Our buttercream is swiss meringue style, so it's much lighter and much less sweet than traditional bakery icings. It can be flavored with powdered sugar for a little extra sweetness on request.  Also may be flavored with white chocolate, milk chocolate, triple sec or grand marnier on request. Many designs can be executed on buttercream, although there are some things that just need to be done on fondant.
Our fondant is imported from Switzerland, it tastes MUCH better than most fondants and rolls out extremely thin.  It's designed for tropical climates, so it withstands humidity and doesn't sweat as much as many fondants. Our fondant also costs a little bit more, but is worth every penny!
